Cranford Township Committee Reorganizes

The Township of Cranford will hold its 2018 Reorganization meeting on Tuesday, January 2 at 7 pm at the Cranford Municipal Building. Democrats now hold a 4-1 majority on the committee for the first time in four decades.

Commissioner Tom Hannen will serve second consecutive term as Mayor of the Township Committee and Commissioner Ann Dooley will serve as Deputy Mayor.

Following a Democratic victory in November, Commissioner Patrick Giblin and Commissioner-Elect Jean Maisonneuve will be sworn in to three year terms on the Township Committee, ending in 2020.

In 2017, the Township Committee brought in a full-time Township Engineer, developed an affordable housing plan to protect the Township from overdevelopment and set forth an aggressive road resurfacing program.

In the coming year, the Township Committee plans to spur redevelopment in the downtown’s northside and tackle long overdue flood mitigation infrastructure projects.
