Democrats Are Delivering for Cranford

Strong leadership creates strong results, and last week's Township Committee meeting showcased the impact of our hard-working leaders!

Focused on Flooding
Mayor Andrews & Commissioner Miller Prunty announced updates to our “All the Above Flood Mitigation Strategy” including the purchase & testing of two new portable water pumps (each capable of removing 2,300 gallons of water per minute) and the removal of flood hazard debris in the Raritan River, both adding to our preparedness & resiliency measures.

Enhancing our Facilities
The Centennial Ave Indoor Gym and Pool facility is undergoing a major upgrade! Commissioner Curran provided updates on the town's partnership with the Westfield YMCA, which will result in a renovated facility with brand new equipment and fitness programming. This partnership is allowing the Township to finance the much needed $1.5 million worth of renovations (replacing the 25+ year old equipment and infrastructure), which the Township will pay back with zero interest through membership fees. The target date for reopening is November 15th.

Committed to Conservation
Commissioner Curran also announced an update to Cranford's Shade Tree Commission ordinance, which includes the creation of a tree nursery and the purchase of 110 trees to be planted across town! Replenishing Cranford's tree canopy has been a priority of Commissioner Curran's, and his work will create a healthier and greener town.

Back to School
Commissioner Gallo welcomed our students back to school and reminded the community to utilize our crosswalks and to "Slow Down in our Town" to ensure the safety of our many students, teachers, and families!
